The controversy surrounding statements made by Eduardo Verástegui against Bad Bunny sparked a heated debate on El Gordo y la Flaca.
The Mexican producer harshly criticized the singer’s speech after winning the Grammy for Album of the Year.
“This person claims that we are not animals, yet he behaves like one,” Verástegui said while questioning his message and music.
His remarks ignited discussion on the Univision program, where Raúl de Molina responded forcefully.
Raúl de Molina Fires Back at Verástegui

The Cuban host addressed the producer directly.
“I say to Eduardo Verástegui… he is an immigrant to this country. The only thing Bad Bunny is doing is defending immigrants,” he stated.

Raúl expressed disappointment that some migrants position themselves against other migrants during critical moments.
“The saddest thing… is immigrants who are here and are against immigrants, and that’s what Eduardo Verástegui is doing,” he said.
The Host Recalls His Own Immigration Story
De Molina expanded on the topic by recalling his own arrival in the United States.
“You, being an immigrant… are you going to forget those who crossed the border with nothing?” he asked emphatically.
He explained that he arrived by plane from Spain and was able to establish himself without facing the hardships many experience today.
He emphasized the contribution of the migrant community to the economy, mentioning examples such as agricultural fields in Los Angeles.
“People are afraid to go to work, people are afraid to leave their homes,” he warned, referring to the current climate of tension.
Lili Estefan Seeks to Soften the Debate With a Call for Respect
Co-host Lili Estefan adopted a more conciliatory tone while addressing the controversy.
“I think the most important thing is to do it with love, exactly what Bad Bunny said on Sunday,” she commented.
Lili noted that the artist’s music has often been described as “too strong for young people.”
Even so, she insisted that the discussion should be handled with care and openness.

Raúl claimed that Lili held a different opinion, but she immediately denied it.
“No, it’s not that I think differently, I think exactly like you,” the host responded.
The exchange grew tense when De Molina insisted that they did not share the same perspective.
“What I’m saying is that I believe this needs to be handled with love…,” Lili clarified, seeking to mediate between both positions.

The Debate Ends Without Agreement, but Highlights a Broader Divide
Raúl questioned how situations involving violence and injustice tied to immigration policies could be “handled with love.”
Lili reiterated that her intention was to understand both sides and avoid extremes.
“We need to move a little more toward the center instead of this extremism we’re living in,” she said at the close.
The tension between the two reflected how the Verástegui–Bad Bunny controversy opened a broader conversation about immigration, empathy, and public responsibility.
